About this Opportunity
Provides safe, courteous, and accessible public transportation by operating transit vehicles along designated routes. Delivers high-quality service ensuring passengers experience a welcoming environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates transit vehicles on scheduled routes in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Provides respectful and inclusive service to all passengers, including individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Collects and records fares accurately; operates fare collection equipment in line with department procedures.
  • Responds to public inquiries and acknowledges concerns or complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  • Prepares and submits required reports and record sheets daily.
  • Provides assistance to passengers in compliance with ADA regulations and City policies, including operating wheelchair lifts/ramps and securing mobility devices.
  • Conducts pre-trip vehicle checks and ensures the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the bus.
  • Performs post-trip inspections, including checking for lost items, securing the vehicle, and refueling.
  • Shares accurate route, schedule, and fare information with passengers.
  • Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Previous experience operating buses or other CDL vehicles is preferred
  • Experience providing customer service or working with the public is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals of varied backgrounds and needs
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Must possess valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) permit with passenger and airbrake endorsements and valid Medical Examiners Certificate required upon hire
